Where I Started; Where I’m Going

Raised in Oxford, Michigan, the artist born Nico James McNeil in 1995 was introduced to the sounds and rhythms of music early on. Picking up a guitar at the age of 8, he would go on to absorb the iconic sounds of rock n’ roll like a sponge, integrating the Latin grooves of Santana, the All-American power of Slash, and the soul of Stevie Ray Vaughn, just to name a few. Introduced by his parents, these legendary influences would become paramount to Nico’s unique blend of licks and guitar playing style.

At age 11, Nico’s Father, Teo, had guided him to discover his inner passion for singing. This drove a new obsession to sing lead vocals and play lead guitar simultaneously, thus sparking an unprecedented new journey in music.

After jumping from band to band throughout his teenage years, Nico McNeil would transform into "Nico James" branching off into a solo career at age 20, yearning for the title singer/songwriter. Since then he has made incredible strides in the evolution of his sound through his releases and new found love of producing.

Today, all Nico’s roots can be heard within his original music. With each new track falling into its own vibe, Nico has maintained an ever-present nuance through a variety of genres.
